Material about this casino has an unusual problem: it almost never names the regulator licensing the operator. It also contradicts the site’s own structured data on payment methods, game count and bonus terms.

The licence was never named

The instruction to “find details about the licence at the bottom of the casino’s website” is not wrong as advice — that is exactly where to look. But a profile that gives the reader that instruction instead of the answer has not done the work.

The point about revocation is worth holding onto. A licence number in a footer records that an authorisation existed at some past moment. It says nothing about today. Curaçao licences have been withdrawn, in at least one documented case within four months of issue, over insolvency proceedings and financial integrity concerns at an operator running a large network of casino brands.

What the public record shows

The geo-locking penalty deserves a moment’s attention because of what it actually means.

Geo-locking is the technical control that stops an operator accepting players from territories it is not licensed for. A failure of that control in a regulated market is a compliance breach with a fine attached. In an unregulated market it is simply how the operator arrives — there is no boundary to breach and no regulator to notice.

That is the structural position for a New Zealand player during the current transition, and it is why the Department of Internal Affairs is direct that players on unlicensed platforms will not have the same protections.

The page contradicted its own data

The payment row is the clearest. A summary table promising cryptocurrency, Neteller and Skrill sits directly above the site’s own structured record, which lists Jeton, Mastercard, MuchBetter and Visa — and nothing else.

For a New Zealand reader that gap matters practically. Jeton and MuchBetter are e-wallets used more heavily in European markets. Neither POLi nor Prezzy nor any New Zealand bank appears anywhere in the recorded options, despite the body text naming POLi.

What is established

Very little, and that is itself the finding.

SpinAway is an online casino operating from Curaçao that also runs under a provincial licence in Ontario through a separately registered entity. Its game library is aggregated from third-party studios, with a live dealer lobby supplied by external providers. There is no downloadable app; play is browser-based. Support runs through live chat and email without a telephone line.

Beyond that, most of what is written about this casino is generic to the point of being unattributable. “Many casinos also operate a loyalty programme that awards points for every wager” is a statement about casinos in general, and it turns up under headings promising the bonuses at SpinAway.

Bonuses

Headline figures of NZ$1,500 plus 100 free spins appear in summaries, with no figure whatsoever in the body text — only “a matched deposit bonus and a bundle of free spins” with wagering “often around 35x”.

Two points can be stated regardless.

Under New Zealand’s regulations, a bonus from a licensed operator cannot exceed NZ$100, or 200% of the deposit or bet, whichever is lower. A NZ$1,500 package has no lawful equivalent in the licensed market.

Withdrawals

The stated position was internal processing of up to 48 hours, then a further day or two for e-wallets or two to five working days for cards and bank transfers, with a minimum around NZ$20 and identity verification required before a first payout.

One phrase in the original is worth pulling out: “Large withdrawals may be subject to additional verification or staged payouts.”

Staged payouts are a withdrawal cap. That single clause, buried in a paragraph, is the term most likely to affect anyone who wins a substantial amount — and it was the only mention. Where New Zealand’s rules leave this

Operators serving New Zealand before 1 May 2026 fall within the transitional arrangements and may continue until 1 December 2026. From that date, only operators that have applied for a licence may continue.

Listings state flatly that “SpinAway operates legally for players in New Zealand”. That was a reasonable summary of the pre-2026 position and is no longer an accurate description of a settled state. Up to 15 licences are available, the applicant list has not been published, and there is no indication this operator is among them.

What to check for yourself

The operating entity and registration number in the footer — the company, not the brand. Whether that entity appears on the Curaçao Gaming Authority’s public register with a current direct licence, rather than an expired master licence ending in /JAZ. The withdrawal terms including any staged payout or cap. And whether pending withdrawals can be cancelled back into a playable balance.
