About us

CasinoChecking.nz is an independent information site about online casino gambling for readers in New Zealand. We explain how casino sites, games, bonuses and payment methods work, and we compare operators against criteria we publish in full. We are not a casino, we do not take bets and we do not hold player funds or accounts.

Our aim is simple: when you read a page here, you should come away understanding what you would actually be agreeing to before you sign up anywhere.

What we do

We publish casino reviews, comparisons and plain-language guides for New Zealand players. That covers how a welcome bonus is really structured, what a wagering requirement costs in practice, how long withdrawals take by payment method, and what New Zealand law says about online casino gambling.

Operators are scored against the same weighted criteria every time:

  • Licensing and regulatory status: 25%
  • Withdrawal terms: 20%
  • Bonus terms: 20%
  • Game range and providers: 15%
  • Mobile experience: 10%
  • Support: 10%

Scores are built from the operator’s own published terms and from the public register of the regulator that licenses it. We do not claim to have tested something we have not tested.

Our principles

Accuracy. Figures, dates and rules are checked against a current primary source before a page is published. Legislation is read on the New Zealand Legislation website and regulatory positions come from the Department of Internal Affairs. If a claim cannot be backed up, it is removed.

Independence. Some links on this site earn us a commission when a reader signs up with an operator. We say so on the pages where it applies. Commission does not decide an operator’s score, its position in a ranking or what we write about it, and positions are not for sale.

Clarity. We write for someone who has never read a set of bonus terms before. If a rule is unsettled, as parts of New Zealand’s new licensing regime still are, we say that plainly and give the date we last checked.

The editorial team

CasinoChecking.nz is edited by Marcus Fenwick, who is the editor and writer responsible for what is published on the site. Marcus plans the content, checks each page against its sources, and decides when a review or guide needs to be updated or withdrawn.

Every review and guide goes through the same steps before it is published: research from primary sources, a written draft, a fact-check against those sources, and a final read for clarity. Pages are revisited when an operator changes its terms or when the law moves.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help with research, structure and first drafts. Nothing is published on the strength of an AI draft alone. A human editor checks the facts against primary sources, corrects errors, rewrites where needed and takes responsibility for the finished page.

Our AI policy sets out exactly how this works.

Contact

If you spot an error, an out-of-date bonus term or a licence detail that has changed, please tell us. Corrections are the most useful messages we receive, and we act on them. Include the page address and, if you have one, a source.

You can reach the editorial team through our contact page. How we handle the information you send us is explained in our privacy policy, and the conditions for using the site are in our terms of use.

Gamble responsibly

Everything on this site is information, not advice and not encouragement to gamble. Every casino game is built so that the house keeps a share over time, and no guide changes that. Treat gambling as paid entertainment, and only ever with money you can afford to lose.

Online casino gambling is for adults aged 18 and over. If gambling is causing harm to you or to someone close to you, free and confidential help is available around the clock from the Gambling Helpline on 0800 654 655, or by free text to 8006.

Our responsible gambling page lists the warning signs, the tools that help and the support services available across New Zealand.
