Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains what personal information CasinoChecking.nz collects, why we collect it, who handles it on our behalf and what rights you have under New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020. CasinoChecking.nz is an information site. We do not offer gambling, we do not run player accounts and we never ask for payment details.

Who is responsible for your information

CasinoChecking.nz is represented by the website’s owner, who is responsible for the personal information collected through this site. You can reach us about any privacy matter through our contact page.

What personal information we collect

We collect as little as we can. There are two kinds.

Information you give us by email

If you write to us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you put in your message. Please do not send us identity documents, casino account details, passwords or bank information. We have no use for them.

Technical information collected automatically

When you visit the site, our hosting and security providers record standard technical details: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested, and the date and time of each request. This information is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix faults. We do not use it to build a profile of you.

Cookies

The site uses only cookies that are necessary for it to work and stay secure. These come from WordPress, the LiteSpeed Cache plugin and Cloudflare’s security service. Because they are strictly necessary, the site does not need a cookie consent banner.

We do not use Google Analytics, advertising networks, behavioural tracking or remarketing, and we do not run a newsletter. Our cookies page explains this in more detail.

Links to casino operators

Some links on this site lead to online casino operators, and some of those are tracked links that earn us a commission. When you follow one, the operator or its tracking platform can see that you arrived from CasinoChecking.nz and may set its own cookies. We do not pass any personal information about you to operators. Once you leave this site, the operator’s own privacy policy applies.

Why we collect and use your information

We use personal information only for the purpose it was collected for:

  • to reply to your message and act on a correction or question
  • to deliver the website to your browser
  • to protect the site against attacks, spam and misuse
  • to find and fix technical problems
  • to see, through Google Search Console, which search terms bring visitors to the site in aggregate

Search Console shows us totals and trends. It does not identify individual visitors.

How long we keep your information

Email correspondence is kept for as long as it takes to deal with your enquiry and generally for no more than 12 months afterwards. Server and security logs are kept for a short period, generally up to 30 days, unless a longer period is needed to investigate a security incident. Necessary cookies expire on their own schedule, and you can delete them at any time in your browser.

Who handles your information on our behalf

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for marketing. The following service providers handle information for us so that the site can run:

  • Hetzner, which hosts the site on servers in Germany, within the European Union
  • Cloudflare, based in the United States, which provides security and content delivery
  • Google, based in the United States, which provides Google Search Console

Information held outside New Zealand

Because these providers are based overseas, your information is stored and processed outside New Zealand. They act on our behalf, and we remain responsible for the information under the Privacy Act 2020. We choose providers that apply recognised security and data protection standards.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and sits behind a web application firewall. Access to the site’s administration is limited and protected. No system is completely secure, so if a privacy breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and the people affected, as the Privacy Act 2020 requires.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you
  • ask for a copy of that information
  • ask us to correct it if it is wrong

To make a request, use our contact page. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can, and within 20 working days. You can also ask us to delete an email you have sent us, and we will do so unless we have a lawful reason to keep it.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. If the matter is not resolved, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, New Zealand’s privacy regulator.

Children and people under 18

This site is about online casino gambling and is intended only for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a person under 18 has sent us personal information, please let us know and we will delete it.

Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this policy when the site, our providers or the law changes. The current version is always published on this page, with the date it was last updated.
