AI policy

CasinoChecking.nz uses artificial intelligence as a working tool, and we would rather tell you that than leave you to guess. This page explains what AI does in our process, what it does not do, and how a human editor checks every casino review and guide before it is published.

Last updated: October 2026.

How we use AI

We use AI writing assistants, including Claude, at the early stages of producing a page. In practice that means:

  • gathering and organising source material, such as an operator’s published terms and New Zealand legislation
  • suggesting a structure for a review or guide
  • producing a first draft for the editor to work from
  • checking a finished page for unclear wording and inconsistencies

AI is a starting point. It is never the final word on a licence, a bonus term, a withdrawal time or a point of law.

Our human review

Every page is reviewed by a human editor before it goes live. That review covers:

  • Fact-checking. Licence details are checked against the issuing regulator’s public register. Bonus and withdrawal terms are checked against the operator’s own current terms. Legal statements are checked against the legislation and the Department of Internal Affairs.
  • Correcting errors. AI tools can state things confidently that are wrong or out of date. Anything that cannot be confirmed against a source is removed.
  • Scores and rankings. Scores are set by applying our published criteria. They are an editorial decision and are not generated by an AI tool.
  • Language and context. Drafts are rewritten into plain New Zealand English, with the context a local reader needs.
  • Originality. Pages are written for this site and are not copied from other publishers.

Why we are open about it

Readers making decisions about gambling deserve to know how the information in front of them was produced. Being open about our tools also holds us to a standard: what matters is whether a page is accurate, useful and honest about its limits, however the first draft was written.

Fact-checking and responsibility

Responsibility for everything published on CasinoChecking.nz rests with the site’s editorial team, not with a software tool. Operators change their offers and terms often, and New Zealand’s online casino licensing regime is still being put in place, so pages are reviewed and updated when the facts change.

We do not claim to have tested a casino when we have not. Where a page describes how something works, the description comes from a source you can check.

Our content is information, not gambling advice

Our reviews and guides describe how casinos, games and bonuses work. They are not advice and they are not encouragement to gamble. Online casino gambling is for adults aged 18 and over, and every casino game returns less to players than it takes in over time.

If gambling is causing you harm, free and confidential support is listed on our responsible gambling page.
